Johnson County Fair festivities slated for this week

A chicken-throwing contest, deep-fried Oreo samples, and a truck and tractor pull are just a few features that will have local residents turning out at the Johnson County Fair this week.

The 2013 Johnson County Fair, which will begin today at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, offers a variety of contests, talent shows, and games for people of all ages.

Admission is free, and several days have a special theme. Today is Teen Day, Tuesday is Kids’ Day, Wednesday is Senior Day, and Thursday is Veterans’ Day.

The Johnson County Agricultural Association, a nonprofit organization, hosts the fair each summer during last full week of July.
