Woman charged with first-degree arson

A Carter Lake, Iowa, woman has been charged after she allegedly set a fire using gasoline in an apartment building.

Nicole Kramer, 25, was charged on Jan. 29, 2011, with first-degree arson.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, investigation determined that Kramer intentionally set a fire in an occupied apartment building using gasoline.

Kramer allegedly was attempting to obtain the dog of her ex-boyfriend, the tenant of the apartment unit. She allegedly told a witness about her plan to obtain the dog without the tenant’s knowledge before the fire occurred.

Kramer’s story matched that of the witness, the complaint said. She was found with the tenant’s dog after the fire started.

First-degree arson is a Class-B felony.
