Juvenile charged with fourth-degree theft

An Iowa City minor has been charged after allegedly reselling a stolen iPhone to a downtown Iowa City retailer.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, the 17-year-old male sold a stolen iPhone 5 belonging to another individual on May 23 at the “All About Phones” store in the Old Capitol Town Center.

The phone had been stolen from a victim at a local grocery store on May 22.

Police officers obtained paperwork identifying the minor as the person in possession of the stolen smart phone.

When selling the phone, the male obtained a $300 payment from the business.

Fourth-degree theft is a serious misdemeanor.
