A local woman has been charged after allegedly stealing from Von Maur.

Charlene Maher, 45, was charged with fourth-degree theft on Monday after Iowa City police responded to the Von Maur in Sycamore Mall after receiving a report of a shoplifting complaint.

According to the police complaint, loss prevention officials witnessed Maher allegedly conceal a bracelet and attempt to exit the store without paying for it. Maher later admitted to stealing a watch, according to the complaint, and she was in loss prevention’s custody when police arrived.

The total value stolen was $452, the complaint said.
