Iowa City police apprehend robbery suspect

A man was charged on Sunday with first-degree robbery after allegedly threatening another male with a handgun.

Kevin John Shannon, 61, 1264 Dover St., was charged with first-degree robbery, going armed with intent, impersonating a public official, first-degree harassment, and OWI.

According to a city press release, Iowa City police responded to the 2600 block of Bradford Drive on Sunday after receiving a report of a male juvenile being threatened by an adult male who had displayed a handgun.

Police later charged Shannon following an investigation.

The juvenile was not injured during the incident, the release said.

First-degree robbery is a Class B felony; going armed with intent is a çlass D felony, impersonating a public official and first-degree harassment are aggravated misdemeanors; and OWI is a serious misdemeanor.
