Women’s gymnastics selected to travel to Oklahoma

The Iowa women’s gymnastics team will travel to Norman, Okla., for the NCAA regional qualifying round on April 6, the NCAA announced Monday. The GymHawks will compete against Oklahoma, Stanford, Penn State, Washington, and Southern Utah.

This is the sixth-consecutive NCAA regional appearance for the GymHawks and seventh of head coach Larissa Libby’s nine seasons as head coach at Iowa.

The winners of each individual event and the two top teams at each region will get automatic berths for the NCAA championships, hosted by UCLA on April 19-21.

“We are very excited and honored to be selected,” Libby said in a release. “We are evenly matched with a lot of the teams at this regional. If we are on our game, there is good chance we could advance. We have 12 days to get better. We are really excited about the opportunity and that we put ourselves in a position to be selected.”
