Residential house fire in Iowa City causes an estimated $150,000 in damages

A house fire broke out on Iowa City’s East Side on Monday night, causing $150,000 in damages.

The Iowa City Fire Department was dispatched at 11:38 p.m. to 1811 H Street after receiving reports of a residential structure fire, according to a city press release. The fire was under control by 2 a.m.

All occupants escaped the residence without harm.

Eight Iowa City Fire Department fire crews were assisted by the Iowa City police, Johnson County Ambulance Service, and MidAmerican Energy. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Iowa City fire marshall, the release said.
