The Iowa City City Council discussed the city’s budget for fiscal 2014 on Tuesday in a public hearing.
The hearing was set to discuss the proposed operating budget, the three-year financial plan for fiscal 2014 through fiscal 2016, and multiyear capital-improvements program through fiscal 2017.
Several community members spoke during the hearing, addressing topics such as the revitalization of Twain Elementary School and the maintenance of brick sidewalks in the North Side neighborhood, as well as the elimination of services from the SEATs program.
The state requires the budget be sent to the Johnson County Auditor’s Office by April 15.
