Iowa City businesses to support February giving campaigns

More than 30 Iowa City businesses will collaborate in support of two giving campaigns next month.

The University of Iowa Heart and Vascular Center invited businesses to support the campaign.

The second campaign, the fourth-annual “Small Businesses Have Big Hearts” event, will start Feb. 8 and run through Feb. 17. Businesses will collect money for the Iowa City Purple Meter Project: Make Change with Your Change.

Several local service organizations are supported by the Meter Project, including the Johnson County Crisis Center, the Iowa City Shelter House, the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic, the United Action for Youth, and PATH.

“Small Businesses Have Big Hearts is such a great way to give back to the city I call home,” Ritu Jain, the owner of Textiles, said in the release. “It supports vital local programs, and local is what small businesses are all about.”
