The Iowa baseball team lost two of its three games against Texas-Pan American over the weekend and dropped its record to 5-12 overall.
Texas-Pan Am took the first game of the series, 7-4, on March 19. Sophomore southpaw Jarred Hippen started on the mound for the Hawkeyes, throwing five innings and allowing two earned runs.
In the first game of a double-header on March 20, Texas-Pan Am rolled to a 13-2 victory.
Iowa picked up just three hits in the game.
The Hawkeyes showed some firepower in the nightcap, winning 10-3. The victory snapped a nine-game losing streak for Iowa.
The Hawks plated five runs in the first inning — four on a grand slam from sophomore first baseman Phil Keppler.
Zach Kenyon earned the win for Iowa after pitching six innings and allowing three runs.
Iowa will host its first series of the season, meeting Western Illinois at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
