The Iowa City School Board is set to meet today at 8 a.m. in closed session to discuss Superintendent Lane Plugge’s evaluation and contract, according to its recently posted agenda.
The meeting comes after Plugge interviewed for a position with the Green Hills Area Education Agency, located in western Iowa, on Tuesday.
Plugge, who has been Superintendent of the Iowa City School District for 11 years, said he applied for the chief administrator position and the job would likely start on July 1, 2010.
School Board member Gayle Klouda said she could not confirm whether board members would discuss Plugge’s recent interview at today’s meeting — protocol for closed sessions prohibits members from providing details before they meet.
She did note the board does not intend to take disciplinary action against Plugge.
According to School Board policy, board members usually conduct annual progress evaluations of the superintendent in February and June in closed session meetings.
Board members usually evaluate the superintendent’s individual professional development goals in February and revise the superintendent’s contract in June, according to policy.
