A Colorado woman was arrested after failing to return overdue movies to an Iowa City store more than 11 years ago, according to Iowa City police.
Elisabeth Weiss, 30, faces a charge for fourth-degree theft after she didn’t return Devil’s Advocate, U-Turn and Bio Hunter. She allegedly rented the tapes May 23, 1998; they were due the following day.
The movies, which were considered a theft 72 hours after the return date, were more than 4,100 days overdue.
The total value of the films was $231.97, according to police.
Police spoke with Weiss in 1998 and said she agreed to return the video tapes, according to police records.
She was not being held at the Johnson County Jail late Wednesday afternoon.
