Photos: Iowa City votes in the 2025 General Election

Iowa City community members voted on school board candidates, at-large and District B city council candidates, and a local option sales tax.

Iowa City community members turned out to vote in the 2025 general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Four at-large city council candidates were on the ballot, including incumbents Bruce Teague and Megan Alter, and newcomers Newman Abuissa and Clara Reynen, who are interested in topics like affordable housing, public safety, and community engagement.

Two District B city council candidates were on the ballot, with the incumbent councillor Shawn Harmsen and newcomer Amy Hospodarsky vying for the singular seat.

In the Iowa City Community School District school board election, five candidates including incumbents Jayne Finch and Ruthina Malone, and newcomers Dan Stevenson, Jennifer Horn-Frasier, and David Noerper, are pursuing three seats.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 8 p.m.
