Loci, a two-man unit consisting of drummer Ace Aclaro and guitarist and lead-vocalist Quinn Miller took the stage second, bringing in indie rock vibes. While their music waded into moody rock, the sheer joy rolling off of Aclero on the drums kept heavy moments from growing too dark.

The duo initially met in jazz band in high school and then decided to start jamming together, sticking together for four years and counting.

“It was never something that we wanted to take seriously initially,” Miller said. “But as we kept playing, we grew a lot from it. And we realized that it was something that we wanted to take a little further, so we kicked some band members out, and now it’s just us.”

Initially starting as a cover band, the duo is currently developing their sound and is pulling influence from indie bands, with Aclaro pulling from a wide variety of drumming inspiration.

Miller said he starts writing most of his songs by fiddling around on guitar or running with it when he makes mistakes playing a cover of a song. Then Aclaro might hop in to get involved with the mix.

“I like to supplement his sound, usually, whatever sound he’s going for,” Aclaro said. “I just want to make that sound better. I don’t want to, like override it, or like, do something that’s just my idea.”

Living together, the duo will often jam together in the basement of their place. Miller said that defining their band is their next step moving forward.

“I think one of the priorities moving forward to is like, like solidifying original content to so we can market ourselves better because we really just like started,” Miller said, “So that’s something that we’re going to start first and then go from there.”
