Karen Babine Reading

February 13 @ 7:00 pm

Karen Babine will read from All the Wild Hungers. This memoir in the form of micro-essays chronicles Karen’s experiences finding ways to nourish and care for her mother after she’s diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. This poignant, bittersweet exploration of  illness, consumption, fertility, grief, and the communal power of food is a “lush gem of a book, both heartbreaking and heart-making.” —Amy Thielen

Karen Babine is the author of Water and What We Know: Following the Roots of a Northern Life, winner of the 2016 Minnesota Book Award and a finalist for the Midwest Book Award. She holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from Eastern Washington University and a PhD in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Babine is founder and editor of  Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies, and is on the nonfiction faculty of the Augsburg College Low-Residency MFA program. She lives in Minneapolis.
