Coralville man accused of controlled substance violations

A man has been accused of controlled substance violations and possession of a controlled substance.

Michael Anthony Williams, 32, Coralville, was charged on Aug. 25 with four counts of controlled substance violation and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

According to the arrest affidavit, a search warrant was served on Williams’ van on Jan. 29, 2020. During the search, four blue pills were found and five individually-packaged baggies of marijuana, totalling .50 grams. He admitted the pills were ecstasy, and a review of his phone’s contacts showed he was selling ecstasy. 

Another narcotics search warrant was served on Feb. 3, 2020 at Williams’ address. During the search, these items were found: 

  • A bag containing blue powder/rock-like substance, weighing at .25 grams
  • A bag containing pink powder/rock-like substance, weighing at .08 grams
  • Six individually-packaged bags of marijuana totaling 16.2 grams
  • Two plastic containers of marijuana totaling 4.3 grams

During an interview, Williams admitted the substances were his. The affidavit said the powdered substances were ecstasy and methamphetamine. A review of Williams’ phone indicated that he was selling ecstasy and marijuana.

Two of his controlled substance violations are Class-C felonies and the remaining two are Class-D felonies.
