West Branch man accused of domestic abuse assault, violating no contact

A man has been accused of domestic abuse assault in violation of no contact.

Boone Lamar Barton, 40, West Branch, was charged on Aug. 20 of violating a no contact/protective order and domestic abuse assault of third or subsequent offense. 

According to the arrest affidavit, Barton arrived at the victim’s residence around 7 p.m. Upon entry of the residence, Barton allegedly struck the victim multiple times. The victim showed swelling around the right eye and a small laceration around the hairline near the left eye.

The victim also stated Barton struck her in the left thigh. The affidavit said that the officer could see swelling and bruising around the area.

The affidavit said Barton and the victim are parents to the same child, who is a minor. Barton has had two prior domestic assault convictions, one in Mar. 24, 2016 and one in Sept. 17, 2018.

The domestic abuse assault is a Class-D felony.
