The Daily Iowan: What’s your favorite thing to do outside of football?

Jack Koerner: Outside of football? I like to watch movies. I’m a pretty big fan of movies, and you know, play the occasional video game. But yeah, just hanging out with my roommates pretty much.

DI: What’s your favorite movie?
Koerner: My favorite movie is Glory Road. It’s a basketball movie [set in] the 1960s.

DI: Who is the funniest guy on the team?
Koerner: I think Riley Moss is a pretty funny guy in our DB room. He’s just kind of a different guy. He’s not even trying to be funny, but it’s just what he does comes off funny to me. Maybe other people won’t agree, but I think he’s pretty funny.

DI: What do you think about a potential NCAA Football comeback?

Koerner: I think that sounds pretty awesome. I played those games growing up, and I played constant hours of them, so that’d be pretty awesome if they came back.

DI: What is your favorite home-cooked meal?

Koerner: Sometimes my mom will make — when it’s a special occasion, she’ll make crab legs and steak. When she does that, that’s a meal I always miss being here.

DI: What is your go-to eating spot in Iowa City?

Koerner: I’d say probably Stella. That’s one of the places we have on black card week, so we go there a lot. Another place we go a lot is Monica’s.

DI: What sport would you be playing if you weren’t playing football?

Koerner: Probably baseball. I played baseball in high school, and it was pretty fun.

DI: What position?

Koerner: Center field.

DI: Did you have a cannon for an arm?

Koerner: I used to — it’s kind of worn down now, I think. I’m glad I don’t have to throw anything anymore.

DI: What is your dream career outside of football?

Koerner: That’s something that I’m not too sure about yet. All I know is I want to do something involved in sports, whether that’d be coaching or in a front office or something to do with sports. That’s all I really know anything about.

DI: If you could be a superhero, who would you want to be?
Koerner: Probably Thor. Thor is pretty awesome, and I think I could do a good job of that.

DI: Do you have any pregame routines outside of warm-ups and stuff?

Koerner: No, I just kind of try to replicate the same thing I do every day. I come into the locker room, eat a piece of gum, put my stuff on, and just listen to music. That’s about it. Every time I wake up, I just try to do the exact same thing every morning.

DI: What’s your go-to pump-up song?

Koerner: “Hell’s Bells” by AC/DC.
