The Iowa City police are looking for any information that can help identify a driver who struck a 12-year-old boy in a hit-and-run Tuesday afternoon, according to a release from the City of Iowa City.

The accident occurred at Governor and Burlington Street intersection as the boy was crossing the street, the release said. The boy believes the vehicle that hit him was a white van, the release said, which was westbound on Burlington Street and turning north onto Governor Street.

The driver reportedly stopped until the boy was helped back on his feet by an unknown person, the release said, and then the vehicle continued down Governor Street.

Police are also asking for help identifying the witness who helped the boy in addition to the driver.
