Iowa City police are investigating several reports of broken car windows earlier this week.

Some 15 to 20 cars were reported as damaged, and police have been unable to determine the cause, Iowa City police Capt. Denise Brotherton said in an email to The Daily Iowan. Cars were damaged in areas around College Street, Morningside Drive, and Seventh Avenue, Walnut Street, Ginter and Gleason Avenues, Aburdeen and Flanigan Courts, and Westgate Street.

“We have not identified who is responsible,” Brotherton said in the email. “We will conduct extra patrols and seek information from anyone with information relating to these events and encourage residents to check home surveillance for any suspicious vehicles in the area of the vandalism.”
