An Iowa City man has been taken into custody after allegedly making threats against the University of Iowa on Facebook.

Rudy Marcelino, 45, 717 Iowa Ave., is charged with one count of threat of terrorism, a Class-D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

According to the arrest affidavit, Marcelino posted the threat to his Facebook feed around 7:20 a.m. July 9.

“My aka 47 is ready to accept the repercussion of my communication to all of you. I’m bringing the heat to University of Iowa that the next time you know of me is in the obituary! The hammer has dropped!! The silver back is up,” the post stated.

Marcelino reportedly admitted to posting the threat to police and that he was in possession of an AK 47 rifle, the affidavit stated.  He was admitted to University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics for a psychological evaluation and was found to be of sound mind.
