Grinnell man accused of eluding officers while under the influence of marijuana, methamphetamine

Authorities have accused a Grinnell man of eluding law enforcement while under the influence of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Jeremy Bruce, 36, was charged May 7 with reckless driving, eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-offense OWI, failure to obey a traffic-control device, driving while barred, and failure to obey a stop sign and yield right of way.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bruce was stopped by police under suspicion that he was wanted by the law. During the pursuit, Bruce allegedly ran through several stop signs and drove on the wrong side of the road.

A drug-recognition expert reportedly determined that Bruce was under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana, an accusation that Bruce later admitted to. Several syringes allegedly were found in a search of Bruce’s vehicle.

Eluding is a Class-D felony.
