Coralville woman accused of beating a person with brass knuckles

Authorities have accused a Coralville woman of using brass knuckles to attempt to scare a person.

 Shelby Heumphreus was charged May 3 with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, willful injury causing bodily injury, and going armed with intent.

 According to the arrest affidavit, Heumphreus arrived at a location to help a friend move. When she exited the vehicle, she was wearing brass knuckles for the purpose of intimidating her friend’s roommate. Heumphreus then allegedly assaulted her friend’s roommate with the brass knuckles, forcing her head into the concrete while continuing to hit her, causing a large laceration.

Willful injury causing bodily injury and going armed with intent are Class-D felonies.
