Riverside woman accused of defrauding Hy-Vee of $12,500

Authorities have accused a Riverside, Iowa, woman of defrauding Hy-Vee of nearly $12,500.

Barbara Jackson, 39, was charged March 29 with first-degree theft.

According to an arrest affidavit, Jackson, a former employee of Hy-Vee, falsified more than 255 liquor department transactions over the course of several months. She then allegedly pocketed the cash.

Jackson allegedly admitted to the on-going thefts, although she was unable to approximate the total amount of money stolen. Hy-Vee alleges that the transactions totaled around $12,500.

First-degree theft is a Class-C felony.
