Cedar Rapids woman accused of aiding in kidnapping

Authorities have accused a Cedar Rapids woman of helping to kidnap a child.

Jade Matthews, 19, was charged March 6 with third-degree kidnapping and assault on persons in certain occupations.

According to the arrest affidavit, Matthews allegedly assisted a man in kidnapping the child of his girlfriend by taking custody of the child while the man was fleeing from the police. Matthews allegedly refused to give the child to law enforcement and kicked officers during her arrest.

Third-degree kidnapping is a Class-C felony.
