North Liberty man charged with possession of drugs

Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of possessing meth.

Matthew Ellyson, 35, was charged Feb. 27 with third-offense possession of methamphetamine, third-offense possession of marijuana, driving while barred, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ellyson was pulled over for a traffic violation. Reportedly, he eventually admitted to officers that he was in possession of drugs. K9 Matz performed a scent search of the vehicle and indicated a positive result. Officers then allegedly found marijuana, methamphetamine, and a glass pipe.

Third-offense possession of methamphetamine is a Class-D felony.
