Coralville man accused of punching his child’s caretaker

Authorities have accused a Coralville man of punching his child’s caretaker and attempting to forcibly retrieve the child.

Henry Ramirez Mesa, 29, was charged Feb. 20 with child endangerment and third-degree burglary.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ramirez Mesa allegedly forced his way into the house in which his child was staying. Ramirez Mesa allegedly pushed a 16-year-old resident of the home, causing a bloody nose. He then allegedly attempted to forcibly remove the child from the residence, despite the child not being dressed for the weather.

Ramirez Mesa and a passerby allegedly got into a tug-of-war over the child, and the child suffered scratches.

Third-degree burglary is a Class-D felony.
