Man faces assault, robbery, intox charges

Authorities have accused an Iowa City man of stealing a phone and assaulting two people while he was intoxicated.

Rachid Jadili, 55, 2401 Highway 6 E., was charged Dec. 7 with assault, public intoxication, and first-degree robbery.

According to an arrest affidavit, Jadili was involved in a physical assault on two people in a convenience store. Jadili reportedly punched a male numerous times, then put a female in a headlock.

The female had been using her Samsung Note 5 to record the incident, the affidavit said, which Jadili then stole and fled the scene. When taken into custody a short time later, Jadili had a .230 blood-alcohol content.

First-degree robbery is a Class-B felony.
