N. Liberty man charged with domestic abuse

Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of choking a woman.

Rodney Dunlap, 45, was charged Nov. 30 with domestic-abuse assault/impeding the flow of air and blood.

According to the arrest affidavit, Dunlap assaulted the woman four to five times throughout the day. The woman stated that each time, Dunlap choked her until she couldn’t breathe. In one incident, Dunlap lifted her off the ground by her neck.

The woman had bruising on both sides of her neck and stated that she was afraid Dunlap would hire a third party to harm her on Dunlap’s behalf.

Domestic-abuse assault/impeding the flow of air and blood is a Class-D felony.
