Iowa City man burglarized local apartment

Authorities have accused an Iowa City man of burglarizing a local home.

Julius Riley, 34, has been charged with second-degree burglary.

According to the arrest affidavit, Riley entered an unlocked door to a local apartment. While trespassing, he was interrupted by residents who returned home. Riley attempted to assault the residents and flee but was overpowered and restrained until police arrived. Riley had stolen $800 in property found in his pockets.

Also in the apartment during the burglary were two children, aged 13 and 3.

Second-degree burglary is a Class-C felony.
