Iowa’s Toren Young attempts to stop Iowa State’s D’Andre Payne’s tackle during the Iowa/Iowa State football game at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, September 8, 2018. The Hawkeyes defeated the Cyclones, 13-3.

Power Rankings

1) Ohio State (2-0):
129 points in two games, ’nuff said.

2) Wisconsin (2-0):
Wisconsin probably deserves to share the top spot with Ohio State.

3) Penn State (2-0):
Nittany Lions recovered after their near-disaster in Week 1.

4) Michigan (1-1):
The Wolverines were sure happy be out of South Bend last week.

5) Iowa (2-0):

If the offense can catch up to the defense, the Hawkeyes will shoot up the list.

6) Maryland (2-0):
Interim coaches seem to be working well for the Big Ten …

7) Minnesota (2-0):
I don’t know, Gophers are 2-0 and don’t seem terrible, so there’s that.

8) Indiana (1-0):
This spot is mostly a product of several bad losses by other teams, but the win over Virginia was somewhat impressive.

9) Michigan State (1-1):
This is looking to be the second-straight disappointing season for Sparty.

10) Nebraska (0-1):
Scott Frost’s first act was pretty lackluster.

11) Illinois (2-0):
Well, the Illini are 2-0; they better rack up those wins before conference play starts.

12) Northwestern (1-1):
Hard to tell which program had the worst home loss last week between Northwestern and Purdue.

13) Purdue (0-2):
See above. Purdue is my pick.

14) Rutgers (1-1):
At least Rutgers is consistent.

Big Ten Schedule

Northern Iowa vs. Iowa (no line)

6:30 p.m. | BTN

The Hawkeyes should prove without a doubt that Iowa is in fact, the Hawkeye State.

Ball State vs. Indiana (-14.5)

11 a.m. | BTN

Anna nailed it last week — who really cares about Indiana football? This one is a snooze-fest, but Hoosiers should win.

Rutgers vs. Kansas (-3)

11 a.m. | FSN

Some might overlook this game, but it will decide which is the worst team in a Power 5 conference.

Temple vs. Maryland (-16)

11 a.m. | BTN

The Terrapins have been the surprise of the Big Ten so far this season; look for them to keep winning this week.

Troy vs. Nebraska (-11.5)

11 a.m. | BTN

If Scott Frost can’t win this one, he’ll go from the most loved man in Lincoln to the most hated, in a two-week span.

Kent State vs. Penn State (-35)
11 a.m. | FS1

I doubt Kent State will put up an Appalachian-like fight this week, so the only question is how much will the Nitty Lions win by.

South Florida (-10) vs. Illinois

2:30 p.m. | BTN

Say goodbye to that undefeated record, Illini.

Miami (Ohio) vs. Minnesota (-15.5)

2:30 p.m. | BTN

Imagine booking a vacation in Miami and ending up in Ohio? That’d be even more upsetting than the Gophers losing this one.

BYU vs. Wisconsin (-21.5)

2:30 p.m. | ABC

BYU has a great chance to shock the college football world and knock off the Badgers … that is, if the pregame flyover uses a pig instead of a jet.

Akron vs. Northwestern (-21.5)

6:30 p.m. | BTN

Before last week, I’d say Northwestern no problem, but a loss to Duke later and now, who knows.

Missouri (-7.5) vs. Purdue

6:30 p.m. | BTN

It was a rough loss for Purdue last week; look for Boilermakers to boil up a little revenge upset Saturday.

TCU vs. Ohio State (-13)

7 p.m. | ABC

In the only Big Ten game worth watching this weekend, Ohio State should continue its offensive dominance.

SMU vs. Michigan (-35)

2:30 p.m. | BTN

SMU played it close with TCU for a half last week, but Michigan won’t have the same issues.
