Authorities have accused an Iowa City man of burglary, among other items.

Grant Simpson, 23, 423 N. Seventh Ave., was charged Sept. 9 with second-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication, and third-degree burglary.

According to the arrest affidavit, Simpson was seen using a wooden 4×4 to damage a car, resulting in more than $1,000 in damages.

Simpson doesn’t own the car, the affidavit said, and he doesn’t remember the incident. He got the 4×4 by breaking into a garage, the affidavit said, and he kicked over a moped while retrieving the 4×4.

Simpson’s wallet was found in the garage, the affidavit said.

Second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary are Class-D felonies.
