Iowa will be without its starting running back when it kicks things off against Iowa State at 4 p.m. Sept. 8.

Ivory Kelly-Martin, who tweaked his ankle late in Iowa’s win against Northern Illinois on Sept. 1, is out. Instead, Iowa will turn to Toren Young and Mekhi Sargent.

Against Northern Illinois, Young proved to be the offensive spark the Hawkeyes needed. He rattled off a 40-yard run on his first carry, setting Iowa up for its first touchdown of the game in the third quarter. Young finished with 8 carries for 84 yards and a score.

Sargent had 12 carries for 41 yards and a score.

Among Kelly-Martin, Sargent, and Young, Iowa split the carries 16, 12, and 8, respectively.
