University of Iowa officials have received a report of a sexual assault that occurred on the afternoon of Sept. 5, according to an email sent to UI students from the Department of Public Safety.

The email said the incident occurred in an East Side residence hall, and the perpetrator was an acquaintance of the victim, the email said.

The email provided no other information regarding the assault.
