Man faces domestic-abuse charge, again

Authorities have accused an Iowa City male of attacking a woman.

Gregory Welch, 34, 220 Lafayette St., has been charged with third and subsequent domestic-abuse assault.

According to the arrest affidavit, Welch attacked his ex-girlfriend (and child’s mother) at her residence, striking her in the face with a bed rail and injuring her face and back.

Domestic-abuse assault is a Class D felony.


Man charged with theft, criminal mischief

Authorities have accused a Coralville male of stealing a pickup.

James Luedtka, 37, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree theft.

According to the arrest affidavit, Luedtka stole a Ford F150, which he crashed following a vehicle chase with officers. During the chase, the affidavit said, Luedtka drove through several soccer fields, causing more than $1,000 in damages.

Second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree theft are Class-D felonies.
