Iowa City man faces theft charge

Authorities have arrested an Iowa City man on suspicion of theft.

Benjamin Hayes, 39, 859 Longfellow Court, is accused of second-degree theft occurring on Jan. 18, 2018. According to an arrest affidavit, Hayes was seen on on video taking a bag from a restaurant containing $4,000 in cash. When asked about the incident, the affidavit said, Hayes said it could have happened, but he didn’t remember.

Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
