Former Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett, once a gubernatorial hopeful in the Republican primary, was denied his appeal to be on the June 5 ballot after failing to present enough signatures on his petition.
A judge ruled on Thursday that stricken signatures on Corbett’s petition should not be counted.
To be on the Republican ballot, a candidate needs a minimum of 4,005 signatures, but Corbett’s petition was flagged in having duplicate signatures.
Corbett’s dropping off the ballot has lessened the challenge for incumbent Gov. Kim Reynolds to receive the Republican nomination.
