Man charged with willful injury

Authorities have accused an Oxford, Iowa, man of willfully harming another.

Eugene Beard, 37, was charged Jan. 16 with willful injury.

According to the arrest affidavit, Beard was involved in a fight at an Oxford residence, striking the victim multiple times. As a result of the fight, the affidavit said, the victim was bleeding, bruised, had a broken facial bone, and suffered brain bleeding that will require a surgery.

Beard left the victim lying in the snow, the affidavit said, and later admitted to hitting the victim.

Willful injury is a Class-C felony.
