Starbucks Coffee recently partnered with Feeding America to spread out a campaign across America. Over 7,000 stores nationwide donate their unused and wasted food.

Locally, the Starbucks’ in Coralville and Iowa City has already started the donating trend by donating leftovers to Table to Table.

It all started in 2004 when the Iowa City location first opened.

“Starbucks Corporate called us and had us their local manager contact us [and set up a time] when we could start picking up product,” Table to Table executive director Bob Andrlik said.

A few times per week, Table to Table picks up leftovers from the Starbucks location and takes it to an agency that is able to use the food. They wrap it up individually, then delivers it to food pantries.

Some organizations that really make use of this delivery service include the Ronald McDonald House and Hope Lodge, according to volunteer coordinator David Wellendorf.
