Only 35 percent of college students engaged in sexual activity have been tested for sexually transmitted infections, according to the American College Health Association.

One reason for not being tested in a lack of sexual education.

“Because we are students, a lot of us may not be able to work full-time or part-time, so we may think we lack the financial resources,” nursing student Genevieve Decker said. “I also believe that some people don’t know that there’s a group on campus.”

Some tips to staying sexually healthy include:

– get tested at least once a year by places like Student Health

– use protection and understand how to properly use it

– stay educated and help lower the risks of STIs
