DITV: Free tutoring

DITV%3A+Free+tutoring
Programs at the University of Iowa offer free assistance to students who need help with their classwork.

“We offer supplemental instruction, or SI, through the academic resource center, or the ARC,” said assistant director of academic support and retention Stephanie Preschel. “It’s basically a guided group study session.”
Some classes encourage the students to attend. All a student needs to bring with them is their notes, and an undergraduate student will assist the group in understanding the material.
“Even if you’re not really struggling in the class, it’s okay to take advantage of them,” Preschel said. “But if you are struggling, definitely take advantage of them to help you stay on track and get your questions answered.”
This semester, 19 courses are offering the SI, and students are able to attend these sessions at the various locations at any point.
