Small Business Saturday a hit locally

Small+Business+Saturday+a+hit+locally

This past weekend, businesses in downtown Iowa City had more business than just on Black Friday.

Om Gifts for Body and Soul, 105 S. Linn St., was one local store that participated in Small Business Saturday.

“I think it’s kind of a nice response to Black Friday, which is very much about consumerism and just take what you can, and Small Business Saturday just means supporting your small businesses,” Om assistant manager Hannah Doerge said.

Anna Arone, a shopper on Nov. 28, said she uses the opportunity to support local businesses and find unique gifts.

“Small businesses need to be supported because it’s hard work to be a small business, and to maintain, and to be able to live,” she said.
