Authorities have accused an Iowa City woman of stealing from Walmart.

Doniece Mason, 19, was charged with second-degree theft on Monday.

According to online court documents, Mason was a cashier at Walmart. She allegedly loaded a gift card for $100 on Oct. 12 and loaded another one with $300 the day after.

The next day, Mason put $800 on a third gift card.

Mason and her accomplice spent all the money on the gift cards, resulting in a $1,500 loss for Walmart, according to a police report.

Mason said she knew it was wrong, but she is “young and just wanted to have fun.”

Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
