Iowa picked up their first conference win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Illinois on Thursday night.

After a scoreless first half, a shot by Alina Magruder in the 61st minute hit the post of the Illinois goal and deflected in for an Iowa score.
No Hawkeye was credited with the goal.

Illinois outplayed Iowa for much of the game, racking up 16 shots to Iowa’s 9. Of those shots, 6 of the Illini’s were on goal, as opposed to just 2 for the Hawkeyes.

It was also something of a heated game as the Hawkeyes were hit with two yellow cards during the game — one to Bri Toelle and another to Chelsey Henry. Illinois also had one yellow card.

Goalkeeper Hannah Clark made 6 saves during the game and became Iowa’s all-time wins leader after the victory; she now has 36 in her career.

The Hawkeyes move to 7-7-1 on the season with a 1-6-1 mark in the Big Ten. Illinois drops to 8-4-3, with a 2-2-3 record in the conference.

It was the first game of Iowa’s two-game road trip. The team will play Northwestern on Sunday, Oct. 18.
