City officials are seeking a new set of bids for the Animal Care and Adoption Center 2014 project.
Officials received nine bids for the project, which involves building a replacement animal shelter at 3910 Napoleon Lane. All nine bids were nearly or more than $1 million over the architect’s estimate of $2.7 million. The lowest bid received exceeded the estimate by more than 35 percent.
Bidding will be opened again, pending approval from the Iowa City City Council, and a public hearing will be set for April 15.
