Man allegedly sexually assaults wife

A Coralville man has been accused of committing sexual assault on his wife.

Derrick Lamont, 39, was charged on Dec. 20 with third-degree sexual assault.

According to a Coralville police complaint, Lamont and the woman are married, but they were having problems. On June 15, 2013, the Lamont reportedly left home without telling the woman where he was going. On the morning of June 19, 2013, the woman found Lamont lying next to her when she woke up. Lamont then allegedly forced the woman to have sex, the complaint said.

When Lamont was interviewed, he denied having sexual contact with his wife. In December 2013, the police department received a lab reporting showing Lamont’s DNA was present from the reported sexual assault, the complaint said.

Third-degree sexual assault is a Class-C felony.
