Local man allegedly threatens wife and child

An area man faces many charges after having been accused of breaking into the residence of his wife and daughter.

Martin Hammen, 37, was charged on Feb. 15 with second-degree burglary, domestic-abuse assault, first-degree harassment, interference with official acts, child endangerment, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers responded to a report of Hammen breaking into the residence and threatening his wife and daughter. The door was forced open, and Hammen’s vehicle was running the driveway, the complaint said.

When officers arrived, Hammen was inside screaming at the family. He allegedly admitted to forcing an entry, and the woman reportedly confirmed he threatened to kill her. Hammen does not live there and has no legal right to be there, the complaint said.
