Iowa City man allegedly bruised a woman’s neck

A local man has been accused of bruising a woman’s neck during an altercation.

Cameron Harp, 26, was charged on Feb. 8 with domestic-abuse assault impeding air/blood causing bodily injury.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers responded to report of a physical altercation between a male and a female.

When officers arrived at the scene, the two witnesses of the incident stated there was an altercation that occurred the morning of Feb. 8. Witnesses stated Harp came home upset because of a previous incident that occurred with his girlfriend, the complaint said.

Harp allegedly approached his girlfriend in the bathroom and slapped her with an open hand. The woman went downstairs to get clothes from another roommate. As the woman attempted to get the clothes, Harp reportedly grabbed her around the neck with both hands.

The woman had redness and noticeable bruising to her neck, the complaint said.

Domestic-abuse assault impeding air/blood causing bodily injury is a Class-D felony.
