Man allegedly found with marijuana

An Illinois man has been accused of possessing one ounce of marijuana.

Brandon Merks, 21, was charged Oct. 27 with possession/delivery of marijuana.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, Merks was a passenger of a vehicle in which the driver was arrested for a driving offense.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle. They allegedly found numerous containers of marijuana amounting to more than one ounce of marijuana, the complaint said.

Along with the marijuana, they also reportedly found a digital scale with marijuana residue, $138 in U.S. currency, a marijuana grinder, and multiple pipes with marijuana residue.

The defendant admitted to knowingly possessing the items, the complaint said.

Possession/delivery of marijuana is a Class-D felony.
