Muscatine man charged after hurting pregnant girlfriend

A Muscatine man has been accused of hurting his pregnant girlfriend.

Rito Rubio-Vi, 29, was charged Oct. 21 with domestic-abuse assault impeding air/blood causing injury.

According to a University of Iowa police complaint, Rubio-Vi and his girlfriend were at the UI Hospitals and Clinics for a pregnancy exam.

Rubio-Vi allegedly put his hand over the woman’s mouth and, using profanities, told her not to disrespect him. The reportedly incident left cuts on her lip and caused her to bleed.

Domestic-abuse assault impeding air/blood causing injury is a Class-D felony.
